OROU" in the Murut language is defined as "SUN". This itself reflects the aim of this Community Based Eco Tourism Project founded by Dr. Richard Sakian Gunting who is a Murut Tribe Descendant, with the vision of bringing a new life towards the Conservation of Flora and Fauna as well as the Murut Cultures which are slowly fading away.
This Project is aimed at bringing the Muruts of Sapulot together to protect the environment and culture through a responsible and sustainable approach to address matters such as the depleting forests due to illegal logging activities as well as lost of culture due to the modernization which has resulted to the younger generations migrating to the city for income opportunities.

"Project Concept @ Orou Sapulot"
The whole concept of OROU is based on providing our clients a chance to time travel back in time to nature and rural living but with sufficient basic amenities. Not only is one able to indulge the beauty of Mother Nature to the fullest but also experience the other wonders and challenging activities which are offered within the Sapulot - Logongon area.
"Community Project Effort"
OROU Sapulot is involved in partnership programs relevant with the Villagers in Sapulot . One of the main goals for such programs is to provide the villagers the opportunity for income generations. The expected direct and indirect impacts onto participating villagers will be:
- To create awareness and empower villagers on their social and economic rights and privileges.
- Minimize the rural-urban migration among the young generations in search of employment.
- To create awareness and educate the villagers on the importance of preserving their God given environment and beautiful culture for their future and generations to come.
- To reduce and finally eradicate relative poverty among the villagers.
